Walking Our Winter Beach

by HarryT

I walk our North Carolina beach on a winter night
The sea breathes shallow under the moon’s silver gaze
I hear your whisper mingled with the wind-kissed atmosphere
From the ocean, dark waves, break lay lace upon the sands
Starry ice crystals are strewn across the indigo sky
They cast a ghostly glow upon the stretching sand shore
Lined by sky-reaching antediluvian aromatic pines
Then from the north comes a piercing, reminding wind
The night is cold, and you are gone, but I need to walk
Craving, longing to remember, the times here with you
In the winter of life, I walk the North Carolina beach alone
Wanting, wishing, needing to walk here again with you
