An arduous wintry trek to a warm welcoming hearth

Striving home for Christmas

by Terry Reilly

      Squelching through damp slushy snow,

    slipping, sliding progress slow.

    Trekking trudging up the hill,

    digging deep, engaging will.

Now I've reached my homely house,

    welcomed in by stalwart spouse.

    Dropping down by fireside glow.
