A trilonnet for the rhyming poem contest

Just Feathers

by June Sargent

They tell me that it can't be done.

Your feathers aren't the proper hue.

I'm told to stick to my own kind.

They laugh and say I'm color blind.

I guess it's just their point of view.

They cannot see that we are one.

Beneath these feathers beats a heart

that yearns to share enduring love

with one who makes me feel complete.

They cannot dictate how I treat

my lovely little morning dove ~

nor will their hate keep us apart.

True love transcends such ignorance ~

not just a story book romance.
