It is always a delight to see a cardinal and your words capture their beauty."Pure delight" is a perfect use of words to capture the feelings they bring when one observes them. Excellent poetic form and use of words.

Linked Renga Poems:

Chapter 77
raging west wind blows
embers through forest and towns
wise owls fly northbound
==================
Chapter 78
a flash of red in white snow
a beam of warmth, pure delight
======================
Haiku is an unrhymed poem but a 5/7/5 poem is not. Renga is considered a form of tanka 5/7/5 and 7/7. I would keep it as is.

I am happy you contributed to the Renga Book. It's an excellent chapter. The poem has the right composition but the link between 5/7/5 and 7/7 could be improved. Beautiful presentation and imagery. Good syllables and connection between lines. Thank you for adding the author notes :)

    Thanks a lot for the great review. It's so nice to have you back. I hope the fire situation is getting better. My son's apartment is fine so far but he is still in RPV at girlfriend's parents' house.

    I think the new 7/7 has a better linkage.

    Thanks a lot for the great review.

I am blessed to have these lovely birds living in my back yard. Every time I see one, I think I am being visited and blessed by one of my family members... They are so beautiful...and your poem is perfect.

I'm not sure weather I should do "white snow" or "snow white (whether, not weather)

I'm not a poet so I won't be of any help. The artwork you used it the same artwork I have as my screen saver on my computer. I enjoyed reading this poem.

Those flashes of red are delightful and always bring hope and I have never seen a cardinal in real life so I am envious. A fine presentation Lisa, love Dolly x

    Thanks a lot for the great review. There are many Cardinals in the US in my backyard. Mostly in the summer.

This two-line poem, A Delightful Red Cardinal, has the proper formatting and finds itself significantly displayed within the cold and washed out setting in winter.

I thought it was going to be a butterfly but I like this little chap even better! A stunning pic with excellent imagery of "beam of warmth" which delights the senses. Your 5-7-5 Renga is fully compliant. Well done, Lisa. Warm wishes Debbie

This is a delightful winter scene that uplifts the spirits. Who does not enjoy spotting a cardinals on a snowy branch? I like the poem written as it is with the internal rhyme in line1 and the end rhyme in line 2. Rod
