Tragedies like the SoCal fires are often read about and then, unfortunately, dismissed if one doesn't have any connections to the situation. But when a connection, a friend, a loved one is affected by such tragedies, they take on an entirely different perspective and import.
I, too, have a dear friend affected by the fires, and I worry for her safety.
You have done a wonderful service bringing to readers the importance of having empathy for this unbelievable and horrific situation.
More importantly, you have brought to readers MariVal's situation.

Yes, I too was aware of Gypsy's situation and have been praying for her. We are no strangers here to such fires and the devastation is frightful. I think experiencing such things first hand can leave people with trauma. I was evacuated from a war zone once and the waiting for the aircraft was quite an anxious time. So far Gypsy is okay and still posting, so that's good.Thanks for sharing.

You have found yourself after having what you thought would be a lonely Christmas and been pleasantly surprised by you own inner reserves. Well done Jesse my fine feathered friend, good on you. I do not have the pleasure of knowing Gypsy as well as you, but I join on your concern for her. She is one of the most creative writers on this site. I am now in the luxury of moving my address, and truly feel for people such as Gypsy who might face that situation against their will. My heart is with your heart as you communicate your compassion for her.

We do need to keep tabs on one another in this age of isolationism. Even a brief text would let someone know you care. It just takes a few minutes on our part, but can make someone's day. Thanks for the reminder.
