Thank you for sharing this poem with us. I doubt you will ever be prey for wolves. There howl is scary and mysterious. I have seen and heard a pack of wolves on a wintery night. They are scary. I was in a house looking out a window.

The description is strong in this poem. The alliteration at the beginning is a really good start as the soft w sounds keeps the poem in a hushed tone. It ends with a chilling question. Nice!

Every poet is entitled to write their poems in whatever way they want. We all play with syllables, rhymes and metre. Here you created a unique nature poem and the wolves howl, but they rarely harm humans. I enjoyed your fine words Patricia, love Dolly x x x

Patricia,

Another lovely nature poem. I think wolves are one of my favorite creatures. They are scary, but they are majestic creatures.

Well done my sweet friend.

Your poem did a great job of sharing the feeling of winter in the woods. The word choices of "winter winds whisper" creates a chilling feeling right from the start. The fear in your words - "chills of fear down my back" - adds a nice tense touch. I especially liked the way you ended with the question, "wondering if I'll be the feast they want". It's a great way to stir emotions with just a few lines! Great work!

Morning, Patricia. I enjoyed your exploration into syllable count. I need to do more of that. I particularly liked your "sound of wolves." That sound sends chills down my back as well. I've never been around wolves. My fear must be something that I inherited from ancestors who lived in the woods. I also enjoyed your use of alliteration.
Nice job, my friend.

This diamante poem, Woodlands Sounds, has the proper formatting and ponders the dire meaning of wolfen calls. Is it the pack on its way off, or on its way in.

Thank you for your review. When I looked it up on the Internet it says that diamanté format has seven lines. My version of it has nine lines
reply by Bill Schott on 08-Jan-2025
Diamante has a diamond shape regardless of lines.
