Good story - as I remember it even placed in the final contest count. I like how you spaced dialog in between that action, going back and forth from present to past. Can't imagine any service person tossing away their dress uniform thought - always thought they had to pay for the replacement. My husband did - in the army.

A very well-written story about the beach and what it means to the frog man and his wife on their special beach where they do everything together in this life and the after life.

This brought tears! What a poignant story. You really brought home not only what our soldiers do for us, but also what the families they sometimes leave behind go through. We often forget the price they pay. Thanks for giving me so much to think about today.

So glad you enjoyed this one, Carla, and that it truly touched you...was one that you write with tears in your own eyes, ya know?!! :) ;) We owe them all for their voluntary service to all of us!! ;) ;) Thanx for the review and hope the good fight (and yes work!) continues! :) You are wonderful ... just remind yourself of that! ;) ;) Yvette :)

Overall I thought this was a very good story. Thank you for sharing it. However, I was a little confused at times as to what was real and what was being remembered.

The italics and different color denoted the memory... :) Thanx for your review - much appreciated! ;) ;)

This is an exceptional write, a virtual 6 from me. It handles emotional well and intersperses time-frames very effectively. It is a story on many levels of appeal: love interest and sensuality, sacrifice in service, loss and grief.
(I got the Aquaman reference.)

It looks like your story will win the contest, hope so... it is definitely the best one.

No one even stands a chance next to this one, Yvette. A wonderfully written piece, I'd say my favorite love story from your collection. This is patriotic, too. The other real and raw side of the ones who serve in uniform.
Sending you my best and for the contest,
Sal xo

Thank you, thank you, Lady Sal -- you always make me smile and this is definitely no exception! ;) ;) Things have been so very busy these past few days and tomorrow with my youngest getting his wisdom teeth out doesn't seem to promise a slow down.....yeah, yeah, I know once he goes off to college in about a month, I'll be singing a different tune.... but for now, I just want the summer to SLOW down... :) :) Thanx again for your review on this one, ma'am, and have a great week! ;) Yvette :)

This is truly worthy of this and so many more stars! You have not only met, but exceeded the contest requirements by delivering a story filled with a depth of emotion that moves the reader tears. Well done and I should think you need no luck in the voting as you have certainly captured mine.

O my goodness, Angel -- you know I read this when it came in (I was a college orientation at the time and then the travels and then there's the fact that I really suck at typing on a phone!!)... aaaannyyyway, you brought tears to my eyes then and you did it again just now -- thank you so very much!! ;) ;) I am so very glad this moved you...was one that I wrote with Kleenex handy, ya know what I mean? LOL! ;) ;) Thanx for the lovely stars, ma'am, and take care of you this week!! ;) ;) Yvette

Good luck in the contest Yvette. This was what I call a multi fold story. It was a tribute to the Marines and specifically the Seals, it was about love both deep and true, it was about loss especially when a body is not recovered- the loss and lack of closure go on and it was about closure in a different way. Very well done and very much appreciated.
