This is an excellent continuation to this Renga poem, Pam. I'm enjoying reading them all and will do more. I love the couplet, it goes so well with the heron describing how patient he is. :)) You have always been so good at these, so it's no surprise to see yours. Well done my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

Wow, I love herons! I love all of Mother Nature's creatures but Heron's in particular. I love this 7-7 poem with the idea of a lone heron waiting patiently for the small fish and other foodstuffs. On a cold sunrise which is an unusual way to describe an early morning but it works very well in that regard. Thanks for the lovely image.

Thanks for the review, Jesse. I love herons, too. I appreciate your comments about nature's creatures and the idea in this poem. It has to follow the basic idea of what was written before it. It looked cold to me, maybe that's because it is very cold where we are right now.

What I meant was that the sun itself isn't cold, but as you inferred, it is cold where you live when the sun rises.
It is relatively cold where I live, too.
    I live in northern California.
    Where do you live?

Thanks for sharing everything, Jesse. We live in New Jersey. We have been having temperatures in the 20's and 30's at night. During the day it can be anywhere from 30 to 40. Too cold for me!

You live on the other side of the country from me. Where I live, it is balmy and warm with temperatures in the 40s and 50s.
    I love where I live!

Thanks for sharing. We have lived in NJ for years. We like where we are, too, it's just that cold weather gets annoying, especially as you get older!

Agreed. The cold weather gets to the heart of arthritis which hits us more when we get old.
I'm glad we both like where we live.

Such a lovely picture in your well selected words and in your illustration. Enjoyed your ekphrastic renga poem. I am glad that you added to this book that Gypsy started!

Hi Pam, this is the first I have heard of a Renga poem. This is lovely though. I love your Lake at Sunrise, as it portrays exactly what I am feeling. LOL. I feel like a bird standing out in the lake freezing. We keep it warm enough in the house but I am just always shivering. Just like the heron that is standing there. I really love this so I will have to try it. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. I think I will try it too.
Love, Debi

Thanks for the review, Debi. I appreciate your comments about the form and the poem portraying how you are feeling. I can relate to feeling cold in the house. We have an older home and it can get chilly, especially by a window. I am glad you enjoyed this and that you plan to try it.

So serene, I am just learning the renga, and trying to keep up with Gypsy's book, I like the visual your words give as this Heron waits for a feed, an excellent post for this book, beautifully presented****kahpot

It appears that this beautiful picture has inspried this lovely 7-7 syllable poem. You have put words to the image that leaves us feeling solitary like that lone heron. Nicely done.
