Excellent poetry...form is perfect and it sings like a cowboy song. I am glad they never found that can...it belonged to him and to be fought over would be a desecration. Nicely done!!!

Wonderful work here, Willie. I really like not only the narrative you told, but the way you told it. It has the feeling of a Gordon Lightfoot ballad. Really well done. Thank you for sharing.

This is quite a story of - not revenge, as that was not who he was - justice. You reap what you sow - and his family did not plant any seeds of love or affection, So, the soil was appropriately where he hid his money - with no happy returns. I thoroughly enjoyed the rhythm and rhyme. Most of all - the story of an old cowboy.

Hello Willie P. Smith,
Nice piece of Western Poetry meeting the desired norms, having lucid as well as perfectly matching the theme phraseology, captivating flow throughout from the beginning to the end with lovely rhyming scheme, and beautifully depicting its theme.
The last stanza is particularly noteworthy.

Such a sad poem but also very thought provoking about fallibly relationships, growing old, priorities, and loneliness. Thoughtfully written and crafted with skill. Best wishes for this contest.

I loved this story and going to save this for my grandkids. The pace is easy, words flow smoothly as the story proceeds to its karmic end. Yes. Unexpected things happen in old age. Good luck in the contest!

How cute Willie.
You tell a great story in a poem!
The story is paced well and the rhymes are strong. The rhythm is off just a tad but this isn't a sonnet and no one is counting syllables
Just let me know where he lived and I'll go there and make myself a cup of coffee! Lol
Enjoyable read

Hi Willie,
Ahh, this is pleasant karma, lol. Someone that's supposed to find that buried coffee can will someday.
I enjoyed your well crafted poem about an old cowboy who lived and died his way.
All the best in the writing prompt!

A good story of this old cowboy and his hidden coffee tin. If they didn't care for him in life well too bad for them. Well told story for the prompt, cheers

You've got to go with the dad, the kids adored money far more than their dear old dad, but you've got to applaud the fact they never discovered the coffee pot. Beautifully written Willie, great expertise in your long poem, well done Willie, blessings Roy
