The narrator covers all parts of the dark and we are not allow one tiny opening to escape from. Although I'm reading this in the day time with the radio on and chills ran down my spine. The power of these night time forces of evil will scare the socks off of you and fill your eyes with tears. Fantastic read.

Hello! This is a very fresh idea (at least I've not seen it before). I really enjoyed the story and the speaker- I do have to ask, though, about the little bits of humor in the beginning. It might disrupt the overall tone of the piece. "Happy as a Lark" and "Being non-living has its advantages too, like the peaceful existence it provides, and the escape from the terrors of those still breathing air. Ones like you." doesn't seem to be in line with the rest of the piece. It could be I'm just too dense to understand it, but my reader response is that these things seem a bit different than the rest. Wonderful job overall. Cheers!

Hello Brent,
Grim creativity here! These are encounters I definitely would not seek.
Nighty night ...
Sonali
Perhaps you (are) scared to fall down and go BOOM
And, (sometimes) quite regularly

Creative indeed but NOT one I will read to my grandchildren. Sorry!
Nightmares are frightening and can seem very real, and ...Yes! Some we don't ever really forget.
Yes! I do have headphones on, soothing rainforest music is playing, and the light is on.
Therefore your writing has re-awakened ...FEAR OF THE DARK. Lol.

this one is longer than your other ones so I guess you are back now in rare form.
Nicely written and a little scary too.
Neat aspect on the undead coming back on the one night of the year that is expected.

Hi Brett,
I had nightmares every night as a little girl and until I turned 12 or so. I don't really like scary stories because it always brings back to me how afraid I was to go to sleep. Still you did a good job in writing this.

Great story. Reminds me of those old radio dramas like "Suspense." "Pleasant dreams, humh?" This really captures the feat that people have of the dark, those things that go bump in the night. You do a great job with creating the atmosphere. "He's been a long time acquaintance of ours forever" seems some unnecessary wording. Maybe just "He's been a long-term acquaintance." Great narrative device with the narrator speaking directly to those afraid in the night, preying on their fears. judi
