Haha! I loved that you used this picture to create a story! It's too bad though that you are such opposites, but then again there has to be a good reason why they say "opposites attract"! In your case, just not sure how that's a good thing! Haha haha!!! xoxo!

I've gotten rid of that boyfriend already - he kept getting underfoot and his breath stank of fish. Hmmm... what will I try next?
    I've written other cross-species dribbles.

LOL! This is a great Dribble -- not only is it a 'story' but it made me really laugh... oh! and that pic? Enlarge it and frame it, ma'am -- it's PERFECT!! ;) :) Thanx for sharing and best of luck! ;) Yvette

It turned out to be the break-up kiss.
He was a slippery character, had fish breath, and wore his tuxedo to bed. Really?

Hey Lisa... this is a fun one you have written for the prompt. I like the humorous approach. Thanks for the tidbit about the penguins of New Zealand. I had no idea. :)

Thanks for your review, Melissa. There are penguin colonies near the city where I live. A different type to this one in the story. I love them! But not good boyfriend material, haha.

I think this relationship is doomed from the start. Still, he is so cute. He might be worth keeping. Just think - he'll never be a problem. lol.

Such a cute entry for the contest. Good luck.

I've ditched him already. Even though he was very cute, he WAS a problem. He stank of fish and was very slippery.

A great tongue in cheek entry for the contest. Indeed the two of you are mismatched, in spite of the initial attraction.

Love the play on words throughout the write.

Best of luck, LisaMay

Thanks for reviewing, Julia. I may expand this little story - there are plenty of other things to point out. I might take up with an albatross next - get the perk of international flights.

    You flirt, you!

reply by the author on 29-Sep-2019
Yes, I admit it. But I can't imagine myself getting involved with a hermit crab - they are far too reclusive; it would take me too long to bring him out of his shell.

    LOLOL

I disagree. This one has possibilities.

Nah. I'm involved with a gorrilla now. He's more my size. Does tend to thump his chest a bit much though.

Ha! - Very cute - and the picture is great - where do you get this kind of real and good photo? Oh I see you took it - very good. "Your new love" - for sure - don't know how one holds them - aren'ts they slippery.
nice story.

Yes, that new beau of mine is indeed slippery... he's always slipping off to the sushi bar.

This is hilarious. Darling photo. I guess they sell the plastic penguins or else use it for décor. I bet you could expand this later on to slightly longer version with more penguin references, once the contest is over. His waddling gait probably made dinner and dancing awkward. Bet he always frequents sushi bars! The last line helps cement the entire story. I bet this places well in contest.

I love your response to my little story (the new beau is a bit of a dribbler himself). Thanks so much for the high rating.
I was thinking I should expand it because it is rich with additional items, such as your clever suggestions. I could even have a series of inter-species relationships.

LOL - good play with words. I enjoyed reading your notes as well as this flash. If you had wanted to, you could have gone in a different direction by not posting the pic. That would have made the ending a surprise. Either way, it's a good read. Hugs, Lou

I initially wanted to post this photo with a more serious essay on Fiordland Crested Penguins and their habitat (they are endemic to NZ), but the comic aspect struck me.

This meets the contest requirements splendidly as you deliver a complete and thoroughly engaging story in exactly 50 words. The content is delightful and filled with fun word play and colorful images. Good luck in the voting and thank you very much for sharing it.

LOL! This is really cute. I love the picture too. The last line is really clever, with its double meaning. I think everyone loves penguins, so this will be very popular. Good job!

Thanks for your terrific response to my little story. Penguins are very engaging, but we won't be getting engaged. I'm involved with a gorilla now - more my size and intelligence.
