This is a nice poem about an old man. Online I just saw a can like the picture for sale on liveauctioneers.com for $15.00. Etsy has one for $80.00.
Maybe the person who found him, took the money.
This is a nice poem, I guess hiding the money didn't help either. I heard once, that some people didn't trust the banks.
Nice antique picture. Congratulations on your wins and good luck with your poem.

Wow, you told a wonderful story; I couldn't wait to get to the next line to find out just how much was in that can. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to settle for the old man having the last laugh. But I'm willing to bet a jug of fine Corn that Jake knows where it is. "Don't get rid of that horse." LOL

Wow! This is super great. What a fantastic story in rhyme.
I enjoyed every line. And the best was the moral of the
story at the end.
That was a believable way to treat his children upon his
death.
Sorry to say, but there is so much truth in this tale.
Loved every line.
Best of luck,
Marie

Your narrartive poem is well-written, moving, and thoroughly enjoyable.
I actually knew a man who hid money around his place in jars. I especially like the story's end--glad they never found the money!

Great poem! This is just the sort of thing i could imagine a man doing as he grew older and more suspicious. the step after would be to forget where he had hidden it. But is that important? i have decided i don't want to grow old.

An interesting poem. Simple language to fit the main character. Rhyme scheme is consistent. Stays well on subject and moves through a story line well. I have no suggestions.
Thanks for sharing.

Willie,
This shows how separate families can be. These children didn't deserve to find that money. Maybe he died smiling because he threw the money in the river before he died.
Keep writing and stay healthy

Willie, you did a fine job telling a story in this poem. Cowboys have long enjoyed a special place in this country, their independence and toughness are admired. Too bad the kids didn't share those feelings. I loved the artwork. I wish I could decipher the name of the coffee. I like old things. Well done. Have a great day.

In my opinion, a sterling write in its smooth narration and rhyming rhythm - the presentation was striking in its entirety, and I thoroughly enjoyed my read, especially the conclusion. His children got their just desserts, and fully compliant with the prompt. Best wishes in the contest with this one...
